Destinations
In the drop down menu of Destinations, you’ll read about all the ghost towns I’ve visited in British Columbia along with the beautiful wildlife I was lucky enough to encounter. I provide detailed information on how to get there or who to book with – and you can take advantage of a special discount if you are interested.
With ‘Destinations’ I am referring to the abandoned places. They often have a great history, but most of them are remote and hard to get to. Some places are open to the public, like Sandon, Cody and Bradian. Others are on private property, such as Kitsault, Tranquille and Stocks Meadow. If you enter private property, please make sure that you have approval from the owner and/or you are doing the trip with an official guide.
Ghost town tours
For my ghost town trips to the northwest of BC (Kitsault, Anyox and Alice Arm) I went with Rob Bryce of Northern Jet Boat Tours (https://www.northernbcjetboattours.ca/). The fun thing is that you can also combine the abandoned towns with grizzly bear viewing from a boat and even visit hot springs along the shore! You can go on a 1/2 day, full day, multi-day tour or book a custom trip.
Wildlife tours
For wildlife viewing, Eagle Eye Adventures in Campbell River (https://www.eagleeyeadventures.com/) is a great option. Owner Jos Krynen is very knowledgeable about wildlife, history and First Nations and they offer fantastic trips. You can do either grizzly bear, whale watching or ocean wildlife tours with them on covered boats or zodiacs.
